Susan’s love for design moved her to return to school after successfully raising her two daughters. She received an Associate’s Degree in Interior Design from Gwinnett Technical College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Westwood College. While going to school, she maintained a 4.0 grade point average, was a Goal Nominee and was awarded the “Golden Tape Measure Award”. She then went on to start her own interior design company before entering the hospitality field. Susan is currently design manager at Carver & Associates, a large hospitality design and purchasing firm. Her expertise includes: redesign and re-arranging, color consultations, real estate staging, custom window treatments and bedding, space planning and furniture arranging, renovations and additions, and faux finishing.
In addition to hospitality design, Susan is currently teaching interior design classes at Bauder College in Atlanta. She previously taught at Georgia Perimeter College, where she was co-advisor to the Interior Decorating Certificate Program; the Vanguard School of Interior Design; and Gwinnett Technical College, where she was president of the Interiors Advisory Committee. Classes taught include Faux Finishing, Color Theory, Computer Rendering, History of Design, Kitchen and Bath Design, Business Practices for Interior Designers, and Window Coverings.
Susan loves passing on her knowledge of interior design to new and eager students. Susan lives in Duluth with her husband of 36 years. She has 2 married daughters, a 2 year old granddaughter and a six-year-old grandson, who can be found at her home almost every evening.
